So much for never having a cavity.

As you all know, I went to the dentist yesterday.
Well, after an examination of my teeth and gums and listening to that horrible scraping sound, I have SIX cavities. UGH!

I would've never known. They are small and so they aren't bothering me... yet.

On top of that, I have gum disease. GROSS! It's just the back teeth though. I have to go in for a special cleaning in a few weeks. It's minor though. I just need to do more flossing. I was told I have a small mouth (the only small thing on me) and that I probably would want to buy a child size toothbrush to brush the sides of my teeth because I have difficulty getting a regular sized toothbrush in there.

AND I still grit my teeth. I knew I did as a child but I wasn't sure if I still did or not. Well, apparently I do. My teeth are supposed to be pointy in the back and they're almost flat. I also clinch my teeth/jaws alot. I knew I did that. It must be a habit or something because I catch myself doing it quite often - like just now- haha. Which could explain my almost daily headaches. They want to give me a little mouth piece to sleep with that will keep me from gritting and clinching.

We also discussed whitening and ways to straighten my teeth.
I've decided that I'll probably go to the orthodontist for the straightening part.
My options are pretty limited at the dentist.
I can't decide if I want to do ZOOM whitening or just get a tray to do every day at home.

They will have all my options written up, along with the prices at my next visit.

Soooooooooo, that's my experience at the dentist.
I supposed I needed to go sooner. HAHA.

O-well.
At least nothing's bothering me.

5 folks had something to say.:

Zoom whitening is more expensive but is the easiest...If you aren't disciplined the tray thing can be a hassle and the bleach can irritate your gums...I think you have to wear it like 2 hours minimum...

she said there is a tray i could wear for 10 minutes a day for 2 weeks and it would do just about the same thing.

What's the difference between zoom and the tray? I had braces to straighten my teeth and those suckers hurt!! What hurts is the spacers they put on your back teeth to separate them, so the brackets will slide over your tooth! I ending up having to have a root canal on the one tooth that had a spacer on it!! You might wanna think long and hard about it...loll..i do think my experience with braces was pretty bad cause we used General/Meharry Hospitals Orthodontists!! DON'T ANYONE EVER GO THERE! I had to get a root canal and get 1 pulled after i got my braces off!! I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM!!
I know you have nothing to worry

I have a small mouth too, they have a hard time working on me if I need something done at the dentist. i need braces, but I figure I have made it this long...only if it starts to bother my jaw will I get them. I have a cross bite, and thats what hurts, cus my teeth dont line up. They'd have to break my pallet (sp?) and let bone grow in then straighten my teeth. YUCK, and OUCH! I STILL grind my teeth.
